Earlier this month two of the Trust’s PL Kicks participants represented Brentford FC Community Sport Trust at the annual Premier League National Youth Summit.
This prestigious annual event provides young people aged 16 to 18-years-old the chance to come together and address topics that matter to them.
The event, at the home of Burton Albion FC, allowed Premier League Kicks and Premier League Inspires participants from 38 professional football clubs to engage in discussions around gender equality, anti-racism, LGBTQ+ issues, environmental sustainability, and career pathways.
Inspirational Young People
Participants also heard from inspirational young people, including Sky Sports News reporter Fadumo Olow and Capital Xtra DJ Kennedy Taylor, alongside interactive workshops and sessions devised to support the development of key employability and leadership skills.
Both of the Trust’s participants were rewarded for their efforts with complimentary tickets to Brentford’s match at home to Manchester City the following week.
Proud of the participants
Scott Southgate, Project Coordinator for (Targeted, Mentoring and Youth at Brentford FC CST said, “I was very proud of our two participants in the way they represented both us and the Premier League Charitable Fund, they fully deserved this opportunity to meet with other like-minded young people from all over the country.”
Romario Hines-McLeod, Youth Projects Coordinator at Brentford FC CST added, “The Premier League Youth Summit was a fantastic opportunity for our young people to meet and engage with others across England. It's great to see the work that the Premier League are doing to empower and reward young people for their participation.”
Inspire others
Abdalla was one of the participants representing the Trust at the summit and said, “I wanted to become part of the Youth Panel to show other people that it is not difficult to have your say and that you can inspire others.”
