Neal Maupay has been named Brentford’s Professional Footballers’ Association Community Champion 2023/24, recognising his positive engagement in the community and special relationship with the Brentford Penguins.

Having joined the Bees on loan for a second spell at the end of the summer transfer window, Neal was quick to reintegrate himself within the west London community.

The striker was nominated for the accolade after forging a unique bond with the Brentford Penguins and going above and beyond to support the work of the Club and Trust in the community.

Upon receiving the award Neal said, “I’m very proud to receive the award, it means a lot to me. I’m trying to make people happy in the end and I think that’s what football is about.

“The Brentford Penguins are absolutely amazing people and I’ve had the chance this year to meet them and all their families and staff, and straight away I loved them.”

Having met the Brentford Penguins on numerous occasions this season, Neal didn’t think twice about the ’21 sign’ goal celebration after opening the scoring against Wolves in the FA Cup in January.

Neal added, “It was normal, I didn’t even think twice. Afterwards to see the smile on their faces was absolutely amazing.
